What To Do While you wait for us to arrive...

You arrive home from work to find your home flooded from a broken pipe. You wake up to find that the water line to your washing machine has separated. Your living room looks like a swimming pool. Your brand new carpet and sofa are ruined, right? Maybe not!

There are many ways to treat water-damaged carpet, upholstery and hard surface flooring. But what can you do while waiting for REMEDICS to arrive?

The Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) recommend that you take the following steps while waiting for an IICRC-certified professional.

1.  AVOID electrical hazards, and contaminated water.

2.  Stop the source of water flow.

3.  Move furnishings out of wet areas, or protect legs from moisture absorption with triple-folded aluminum foil.

4.  Pin up draperies and upholstery skirts to prevent water stains.

5.  Hire an IICRC firm who employ trained restoration technicians. IICRC-certified technicians know how to identify fibers and fabrics, and to select the best cleaning and restoration options. They are committed to provide you with services based on the highest level of honesty and integrity.

The IICRC recommends that you do not attempt to treat water damage yourself. To preserve the appearance and life of your carpet and furniture, hire a certified firm. You can be confident that an experienced, qualified professional is restoring your valuable furnishings.

Water is one of the most destructive forces when it escapes its confines of the plumbing or drainage system and the longer it remains exposed and unattended the worse it gets. It hosts a wide range of microbes that over time can create a tremendous problem for the environment and it's occupants.
